Summary

Redrow Homes are looking for an individual who is passionate about bricklaying and other aspects of building to join as an Apprentice Bricklayer. As an apprentice you will be studying towards a level 2 apprenticeship in Bricklaying which will include both theory and practical skills for a duration of 18-months.

 

Your time as an Apprentice Bricklayer will be split between working on site with an experienced tradesperson learning from their years of expertise and, intensive block release training at the NHBC Brickwork Training Hub in Tamworth or Cambridge.

Key Responsibilities

  • Adherring to health, safety, environment and welfare policies and procedures in the workplace

  • Mixing mortar, setting out and building brickwork, including complex arches and surrounding brickwork, curved on plan, concave and convex brickwork and battered brickwork

  • Shaping and trim bricks/blocks using hammers, chisels and power tools

  • Using laser levels, spirit levels, optical levels and string lines to check that courses are straight, horizontally and vertically, and laid to a gauge

  • Operate equipment in a safe manner, including the use of hand and power tools

What we are looking for

  • Excellent timekeeping skills with the ability to work in adverse weather conditions

  • Punctual and reliable

  • Able to work at height

  • Excellent attention to detail and an ability to be thorough

  • Excellent communication skills with the able to work in a team and on your own

  • Flexible approach to working on different sites

  • Passionate about construction

  • Live within a maximum of a 45-minute commute by public transport or 60 minutes using your own transport of your assigned site
