Summary

To motivate and inspire a positive HS&E culture and to lead the wider business and HS&E team to aspire to safety and environmental excellence through development and coaching opportunities.

Key Responsibilities
  • Support the Group HS&E Director with both the day to day operational management of the HS&E team as well as identifying suitable strategies and development opportunities to ensure that the business continually improves year on year and is seen amongst its peers as a leader in HS&E within its sector.

  • Develop and maintain close links with industry, suppliers and key stakeholders so as to identify HS&E business & operational development opportunities to promote safer, more efficient ways of working.

  • Maintain a dynamic and driven approach to promoting and supporting HS&E across the group and its divisions. Be an ambassador for HS&E and promote "out of the box" thinking which enables solutions to problems to be identified and implemented effectively throughout the business.

  • Manage and coordinate a team of HS&E Managers to ensure they proactively support their divisions and senior management teams on a day to day basis.

  • Responsible for personal development and coaching of HS&E managers, trainees and assistants. Ensuring there are structured development plans in place and such plans are monitored, reviewed and updated accordingly.

  • Monitor performance of the HS&E Management team to ensure key responsibilities are being met and where performance is not being achieved put measures in place to improve them.

  • Work closely with other members of the HS&E team to ensure business objectives and targets are being achieved.

  • Challenge & support the local divisions with developing their own HS&E action plans and strategies for development and improvement.

  • Support and work closely with the various internal departments, divisions, projects and supply chain in planning, reviewing and achieving HS&E objectives and targets as well as promote continuous improvement and development throughout.

  • Coordinate and monitor incident investigations to ensure they are investigated promptly by the HS&E team and reports are produced in a timely manner which identify root causation and actions to prevent reoccurrence. Where actions and lessons learnt are captured make sure that they are communicated and acted upon accordingly.

  • Support the divisions in measuring and monitoring performance against the Group and Divisional HS&E Plans.

  • Work with L&D and the wider team to develop and deliver suitable training courses for Redrow staff and supply chain to ensure we remain compliant with current legislation and industry best practice. Furthermore, this will include the development of a culture based HS&E behavioural program.

  • Ensure familiarity with Redrow Group’s Health, Safety and Environmental policies and comply with employee responsibilities.

  • At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.

  • Contribute to improving the business, protecting and enhancing the reputation of the company, by putting forward new ideas and, when requested to do so, implementing change
