The Role:
Job Purpose: To be responsible for the adoption of roads and sewers, pumping stations, and public open spaces,
Responsible for:
Budgets: report any overspend to Technical Director/Head of Technical. Ensure contractors work within budgets set by others and report any potential overspend/savings.
Scope: The role of the Technical Department in an Operating Division is to provide a practical and cost effective technical service to the company.
This will encompass site evaluation, architectural and engineering design, the investigations of any technical problems encountered and provision of economical and viable solutions. This may involve liaison with, appointment of and co-ordination of external professionals.
The technical department are involved with the Redrow product from inception to completion.
Key Responsibilities
Key Responsibilities:
Remedial management and supervision of roads and sewers together with final surfacing works, ensuring that the works are carried out within agreed budget and timescales
Arrange for CCTV, as constructed surveys, street lighting certificates and remedial works with contractors
The adoption of roads and sewers, pumping stations and open spaces covered by section 38,278,102,104 and 106 agreements.
Liaison with local authority, water companies and environment agency personnel in respect of site inspections etc.
Work to an agreed programme of scheduled adoptions, such programme to be discussed and reviewed with Technical Manager on a regular basis.
Update the companies bonds management schedule on a regular basis ensuring that a monthly report is available to the Technical Manager
Have a sound knowledge and experience of civil engineering construction i.e. roads sewers pumping stations and section agreements
Issue engineering information to Commercial, Construction and Sales departments
Answer Technical queries
Assist the Technical and Commercial Departments in issuing tender drawings to contractors, assessing them upon return and then formally awarding the works
Liaise with Redrow Commercial on Special Projects
Comply with responsibilities as laid down in the Group’s Health, Safety and Environment Policy.
At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.
Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company.
Work in a team of engineers and architects to deliver schemes in a cost-effective manner and on programme
Working Relationships:
Effective working relationships are an essential part of daily working life.
The focus in this role is both:-
Internal: Colleagues within Operating Division; and
External: Consultants, managers in both Local Authorities and Statutory Bodies
Decision Making Authority:
Appointment of Consultants in consultation with line manager
Agreement of fees for consultants in line with budget
Agreement of details with statutory authorities
These are illustrative duties and the post holder will be expected to become involved in a range of work to enable the department to respond effectively to the requirements of the Company.
