Summary

The Graduate Software Tester works alongside other stake holders (Systems Analysts, Software Developers, Software Testers and DBAs) as part of the IT Development Team to deliver new and updated Redrow IT Systems.

Working under the supervision of senior members of the test team, they will actively participate in numerous aspects of software delivery programmes working in an agile focused environment to ensure that systems are tested and delivered according to the development procedures.

Key Responsibilities

1. Test Applications

  • Attend project meetings, stand-ups and other related sprint meetings to assist in the testing of work as defined with your manager.

  • Working from User Stories and application design documents to create test cases to manually test new applications and changes to existing functionality using Azure DevOps

  • Create and maintain Test Plans / Test Suites / Test Summary Progress reports for the project lifecycle

  • Perform quality functional and non-functional testing (sprint / exploratory / regression / user interface) on projects and defects to agreed processes and timescales, across browser, desktop and mobile devices.

  • Raise software defects using Azure DevOps providing clear replication steps including any supporting information to assist in the defect investigation work and manage them through to successful resolution

  • Report test progress to the Project team, Software Test Team Lead and Senior Software Tester, communicating effectively and escalating where appropriate

  • Validate data using SQL queries

2. Documentation

  • Produce test documentation including Test Plans, Test suites and Test Summary Reports to record testing activities and progress

  • Document and record software defects through to resolution

  • Create “How To” guides on new functionality and update existing documents as required

3. Identify Areas

  • Highlight areas for improvement to processes and procedures

  • Highlight areas for Regression testing

  • Highlight areas for Test Automation

4. Support Applications

  • Working with IT Support and other departments within the organisation, help in identifying and testing issues within the business applications.
