Summary

The Surveying Department in an Operating Division is responsible for monitoring and controlling expenditure on all the Divisional developments by controlling the “cost of sales”, as well as ensuring that all Group Commercial policies and procedures are adhered to within the company.

The post holder is responsible for assisting in Procurement, Payments, Valuations and administration of Health and Safety procedures.

To assist with the issue of Health & Safety Contractor Competency Questionnaires for new contractors. 

Ensure familiarity with Redrow’s Group Health, Safety and Environmental policies and comply with employee responsibilities.

At all times comply with company policies, procedures and instructions.

Implement new ideas and methods and continue to seek ways of both improving the contribution to the organisation’s goals and enhancing the reputation of the company.

Commercial Graduate

Summary

The Commercial Department plays a key role in ensuring the successful outcome of all of our developments and supporting the growth of the Redrow Group.

This programme is an intensive two-year introduction to Redrow’s surveying and procurement processes, designed to give talented graduates the skills and understanding of how a commercial department operates.

We are looking for graduates with a specific educational background, those who have studied either a Finance Degree or a Quantity Surveying Degree.

As part of the programme you will spend the first 12 months in the Commercial Department of a regional office and a further 12 months working with the Business Process Review (BPR) Team  who are based at our Head Office located near to Chester.

 

What to expect:

In year One you will work in a regional office where you will receive training in procuring Subcontractors & Suppliers, setting Budget Estimates, managing live sites including the preparation of valuations and cost reports. As a valued member of the Commercial Department you will receive extensive training at our dedicated centre to develop your management schemes, commercial acumen, understanding of construction and Health & safety.

In year Two you will join our BPR team and will be involved in visiting regional offices to review and report on the commercial practices employed. The review process will enable you to gain an understanding of the wide range of tasks carried out by Commercial together with the various processes and procedures employed to complete each element of a project. The role will help to develop your analytical, presentation and reporting skills whilst developing your management skills.

You will be working with experienced commercial professionals and learning from some of our most experienced surveyors and purchasing managers whilst being mentored by Senior Directors within our business. There’ll be plenty of opportunity for formal training too, with courses readily available. And we’ll also support you while you work towards your RICS membership.
